Around 9:40 hrs we started to leave Warsaw. The traffic was not too bad and the TomTom brought us on a small road east towards the Polish/Belarus border. The landscape varied between wooded and farmland. When we arrived in Biatowieza we looked around for the park entrance. I wanted to see the wild European Bison so they directed us to an enclosed zoo type area where several were grazing together with some other local animals. Not really what I had in mind. In the village we strolled through the park which was created around the old hunting lodge from the kings of Poland and Tsar of Russia. The lodge itself was replaced by a hotel/museum but the park was ok. The best way, I think, to get a better impression of this last remaining Natural Forest in Europe is by bicycle. Tomorrow we will rent one before moving on to Belarus.
